An Excellent Alternative to Full Dental Implants
Implant-retained dentures are specialist dentures which are supported by 2 or 4 dental implants placed in the jaw. We can also provide stand-alone dentures, or implants can be put in to support your existing denture.
These are a wonderful way of replacing all the teeth in the upper/lower or both jaws.
For the replacement of multiple teeth, Removable Implant Teeth (Implant-Dentures) represent an excellent option for comfort, appearance, function, and cost:
The Advantages Of Removable Dentures
- They stay put. When you talk or eat, they won’t budge. You can even eat steak with them!
- More comfort in the mouth. The implant supports mean they can be much smaller than false teeth (dentures), the palate is left clear for proper enjoyment of your food and the absence of the classic denture-lisp.
- Easy to clean. Implant-retained dentures are easily removed for cleaning and do not get much food trapped under them, unlike conventional dentures.
- They are only removed for cleaning. No more teeth in a glass by the side of the bed!
- They are less expensive than a full set of implant teeth, over the last ten years. The longest-surviving implants have been in place for 25 years.
When Are Immediate Implants Possible?
This technology transforms the humble denture from a loose, food catching, great lump of uselessness to a slim, snug fitting and firmly attached set of teeth that you can eat anything with and never fear of them slipping out from under your nose while chatting at the Queen’s garden party (or for that matter, down the Social club)!
This treatment is the most effective way of replacing large numbers of teeth, even when compared to other treatments.
- Cheaper than implant bridges
- Easier to clean than implant bridges
- Half the price of implant bridges
How Does It Work?
Implant-dentures rest on the gum but have 2 or 4 implants to hold them in place, addressing one of the major problems that patients talk about with normal dentures, the fact that they simply don’t stay still when eating and talking.
Implant-dentures stay in, so you don’t have to.
TREATMENT TIME: Treatment normally lasts 8- 12 weeks
How Long Do They Last?
The female parts inside the implant teeth (locator-connectors) are made of nylon, and they do wear over time. Mostly, they last 12–24 months between exchanges, but some patients who wear them hard find that they need to be replaced more often. Often, they can be replaced when you come for your normal six-month examination. There is a fee for their replacement.
We encourage all our implant patients to visit the hygienist every 3-6 months, depending on how 'at risk' they are of losing their implants long term.

Costs
On average, the implant retained denture costs half what a fixed implant bridge would.
You can be very sure that once you have been in for your assessment and we give you the final estimate, the cost will be the same as what we discussed at your consultation visit.
The only added expense for you, ongoing would be hygiene visits and the cost of extractions prior to implant placement.
Don’t expect to pay if you need your temporary teeth adjusted shortly after fitting, or indeed if you require any adjustments to the permanent teeth at the end of your treatment.
If you are worried you may be about to lose all or some of your teeth, please come and talk to us.
Things are probably not as bad as you think, and we are always happy to talk you through the range of solutions that will help, as quickly or slowly as you need to go.
